Blue Mountain Beach

Obviously the term “mountain” is somewhat misleading for a Florida landscape that is as flat as they come, but we do like messing with your mind a bit.  Story has it that early European settlers may have mistaken Blue Mountain’s towering  sand dunes for mountains…scurvy and sea sickness will make you see some crazy stuff.  We assume that the blue description came from the lush vegetation covering the dunes, especially the Blue Gulf Coast Lupine known for it’s fluffy blue leaves and purplish blue flowers.

Blue Mountain features some older 60′s style Florida cottages, some great restaurants, newer home developments and some well-hidden condo complexes. It is a great choice if you’re looking for a family getaway where you can pick up a chili dog without having to go too far.
