The environment on Scenic Highway 30a – at least where eateries are concerned – is ever changing. Yep, due to a variety of reasons, it seems like restaurants in our area are always opening and closing. Kind of like a real-life Hunger Games, the restaurant business can definitely be a tough one to be a part of…especially when the competition is so stiff.  Understanding that, it’s always great to hear positive news coming from one of our more established local eateries.

Take Cafe Tango for example. If you’re not familiar, Cafe Tango is a small upscale eatery located on the south side of Scenic Highway 30a between Gulf Place and Blue Mountain Beach. They serve excellent appetizers, salads, and entrees, and of course, offer a nice assortment of wine and beer options. The description of “a place that offers big taste in an intimate atmosphere” would most definitely apply to Cafe Tango.

As you can imagine, during the peak tourist season tables can be extremely hard to come by…which severely disappoints many of us who love eating there. That’s exactly why we were excited to hear that they are now open for lunch.

They plan to open from 11 am to 2:30 pm every Tuesday through Friday.  Along with lunch, there will also be an option for carry-out.  So if you don’t have time to sit, or if you should fail to beat the inevitable crowds for a table, you can still get in on the action. Either way, there are now more available options for you to enjoy the tasty goodness that they have to offer.

Owner and head Chef, Patrick Morris said, “we are very excited to start a new tradition at Cafe Tango. Many of our regular customers have often asked us to open for lunch. Now, we’re glad to be fulfilling those requests.”

Lunch Menu highlights include the Cajun Dusted Fried Oysters served over Gorgonzola cream sauce; a Stuffed Burger that features white cheddar or gorgonzola cheese served with waffle chips with possible additions including bacon and caramelized onions; their Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap which showcases grilled chicken tossed with romaine hearts and caesar dressing; the Shrimp and Grits which has sautéed shrimp served over creamy stone ground grits, topped with a savory Tasso ham and sausage gravy; and expect plenty of daily Chef’s specials scattered through the week.

Cafe Tango is definitely one of the hidden gems of the 30a Scene. Well, at least until the word gets out that they are now offering a lunch menu… You can check out their full lunch menu on their website by clicking here. Man, now we’re hungry. Maybe we’ll see you there.
